24.02.2022. Russian invasion of Ukraine

Around 4:00 a.m. Kyiv time (UTC+2) on February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation allegedly aimed at "demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine"; a few minutes later, missile strikes began all over Ukraine, including near Kyiv.

Russian troops invaded Ukraine near Kharkiv, Kherson, Chernihiv, Sumy, entering from Russia, Belarus and the Crimea temporarily occupied by Russia.

Together with Russia, Belarus is waging a war against Ukraine: missile strikes are carried out on the territory of Ukraine from the border areas, combat aircraft sorties are carried out to carry out missile and bomb strikes on the territory of Ukraine, the redeployment of troops and their support is taking place. Russian-controlled Transnistria (Moldova) is also a potential threat.

Thanks to the resistance of the Ukrainian army and self-defense forces, already in the first days of the aggression, the Russian army suffered significant losses in manpower and equipment. In its recent history, according to Ukraine's estimates, in all the wars it has waged, Russia has not suffered even approximately such large losses in such a short time.According to Western intelligence, Russia encountered stronger resistance than expected, which led to logistical problems for its troops, lack of fuel, ammunition and food, undermining the fighting spirit of the attackers.

The rapid unification of the countries of the world to help Ukraine, as well as the introduction of powerful sanctions against Russia, was an unexpected blow to the aggressor country.

From the first day of the invasion, Russia violated the rules of war and committed war crimes en masse. In addition, the Russian authorities conduct an information war and use propaganda.
