In 2006 in order to mark the 10th anniversary of our Laboratory we have issued a monograph entitled “Topical issues of quality control of medicines”.

The introduction reads "...Ukraine has a highly developed pharmaceutical industry that produces medicines in quantities exceeding the national needs, but it is unable to ensure adequate quality control thereof.

Most pharmaceutical enterprises do not meet GMP standards and continue to work with the equipment failing to meet the modern requirements, they use cheap raw materials (often of low quality), outdated analytical documentation and so on.

Foreign producers also sometimes use cheap and low quality raw materials and outdated technologies in order to cut down the production costs of medicines, but this has a huge impact on their quality”.

This publication does not cover all the reasons why such situation has occurred in our country.

Authors have tried to share challenges and successes in only one small area of a common cause – information about the work of experts of the State scientific research laboratory for quality control of medicines of the State Institution "O.M. Marzeyev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine".
